Debbie Richards

I work with wool because it carries a living history—soft, strong, and full of memory. Every strand holds the warmth of the animal, the tradition of handwork, and the possibility of transformation.

In my art, I shape wool into forms that echo nature: spirals, vessels, and landscapes that feel both familiar and timeless. These pieces are not just objects, but touchstones—reminders of grounding, renewal, and connection to the earth.

Each work takes hours of careful handwork. The textures, layers, and patterns that emerge are a meditation on patience and presence. I want my art to bring that same sense of calm and depth into the spaces it inhabits, becoming part of a collector’s daily rhythm.

For me, fiber is more than material—it’s a way of weaving together tradition, story, and spirit. Every piece is made with intention, so it can live not only on the wall or in the life of the collector, but in the heart of those who welcome it into their life.
