Debbie Johnson has a magical gift. With her wood burning wand, she can transform a blank slate of wood into a wildlife wonderland. Debbie joined North Tahoe Arts artisan shop in 2020 and her ability and talent to capture whimsical-wilderness scenes on wood have made her unique style of art, a North Tahoe Arts favorite. Here in her own words she describes how the wood burning medium became her own. 

I have been making art most of my life including painting, ceramics and drawing. I started experimenting with a wood burner on gourds I had grown in my garden. I quickly moved to burning wood and haven't stopped since. My art pieces are always unique, because each piece of wood is different and I do not use a pattern. I hope wherever my art may land, it’s enjoyed as much as I have enjoyed making it.
